Software

In the course, we work in Autodesk Maya (the main technical tool for professionals in animation, film, and game studios). Please note that the focus of the course is the principles of animation - the right way of approaching animation in a shot and specific skills for creating the movement of objects. Having that knowledge, you can easily make your animation using any other software.

Please note that the school doesn’t provide Autodesk Maya. However, you can download a trial version of the software.

Feedback from our graduates

Vladimir Komarov
Lead animator, Mail.ru

I involuntarily remember a little discussion with my colleague:

"Listen, I'll tell you something, Olya, about Ivan! From my point of view, a teacher or a supervisor has many excellent qualities, but one quality I would like to emphasize in bold: this is the requirement of the result. And here are many pitfalls. The result can be very different. It can depend very much on the conditions. It can simply be destroyed by the current market position. But if the teacher squeezes the maximum result out of the student in every possible way and a little bit more, if the student is completely empty but glows with happiness, or if the manager protects the perfect result from all the misfortunes of management, market demands and the cries of spent hours... Then it turns out that the game was worth the candle. That when everything around you is in ruins, and in the midst of these ruins is a brilliant result, squeezed out with blood and sweat, magnificent material, then you realize that you are not living in vain. You're going to the limit of your abilities. How else, Olya? Here is our Ivan, one of those people. And then there is a choice: either you go through life with such people (and finding them is already a victory) and try to be useful to them, or you go your own, serene way. True, but the world moves faster.

Konstantin Novichkov
Animator, Studio Locomotive

Ivan Pavlov is a great animator with a lot of experience. While studying with him I learned many ways to make my character really interesting, how to give it character, how to make the viewer believe that the character is alive. It turned out that it is not so difficult to raise your level if you have a competent mentor who always tells you which way to go. I would like to thank Ivan for generously sharing the secrets of his art with us. Thank you, Ivan!

Eugene Mishchenko
Animator

Ivan is very talented and scrupulous painter and animator. He has great eye for details. Not only is he an outstanding animator, he always makes time to mentor up animators and for that I am forever grateful. I highly recommend Ivan and it would be a loss to any company not to employ someone as gifted as he.

Elena Noskova
Animator, freelancer

I studied with Ivan for six months. During this time, I developed an approach to work, I used to "swim", taking on one thing, then another, now I can devote more time to acting, not doing what is not important now or redoing it. Thanks to Ivan's meticulousness, I now have more diligence, especially in the smallest details, which was the most difficult, but so necessary in this profession, for which I am very grateful.

Ivan has the gift of transforming knowledge into experience. Each time he methodically repeats the main principles in practice, he drains the animator out of you drop by drop. The foundation that Ivan screwed into my head, if you will, do not forget. It may not be ideal to use this knowledge because of my lack of experience, but the fact that I take it into account every time I work, because I can't do it any other way, is a fact. This has grown into the system of work that Ivan gave! Thank you very much for this valuable experience!

Boris Klimov
Animator, Studio Animagrad

I would like to express my great appreciation to Ivan Pavlov for his conscientious approach to teaching. To solve non-technical and really artistic tasks you need a lot of experience in the industry. Such knowledge is very, very valuable. While working on the training shot, we did not just move the character through beautiful parks, but tried to breathe life into the animation, give the characters their own character and believability. Thanks to Ivan for sharing some of his experience with us!
